Silvertip Films founder and Co-Director Geoff Cockwill developed his passion for films and filmmaking at the renowned Surrey Institute of Art and Design, graduating their Film and Video degree in 2003 with Honours before starting Silvertip Films in 2004. He has experience in many areas of filmmaking and editing and has directed, produced and edited a combination of over 65 music videos, live gigs, short films and corporate promos over the last few years.

His most recent music videos have received broadcast exposure on various channels in the UK, notably "All of You" by Alanna Estrella on Smash Hits! and Fizz as well as "Why Don't You Come" by SWIFT it MAJOR on MTV and Bubble and G3's "Lady" on Starz. Alongside music videos, his live videos for White Sunday at Guilfest and FireFallDown in London and the Oh Boy! 60's Hits Tour have been invaluable promo for these artists.

Geoff still occasionally makes short films, with his recent green screen, hand drawn background, retro homage "Attack of the Lobsterzombies from Transylvania" nearing release and following on from the previous two "Attack of the Lobstermen from Mars" being a favourite amongst fans of 1950's sci-fi with its George Meilies feel and his "Veronica V.", a mockumentary about a woman with a dark secret was nominated for Best Comedy at the BBC Big Screen Film Festival in 2006.

Geoff has Directed many of the projects Silvertip Films have been hired to produce including music videos for Nina Beste, Bad Pollyanna, G3 and Jay Makwana as well as live multi-camera shoots for Vanity Fare, Draven and The Revelation. Corporate videos include the music video influenced promo for Grand Prix Legends and the subsequent weekly vidcasts for them.

Previous freelance work includes various adverts including shoots for Tiger Woods Golf 2006, Kerrang!, PopTarts and Samsung through EMAP, all of which aired on satellite music channels and terrestrial channels. Other freelance work included lengthy stints at various production houses where he assisted on projects from infomercials to premiere events to TV shows.

Geoff is adept at using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 for editing and PhotoshopCS for image work and Encore for DVD creation and After Effects for various tricks for videos as well as various MS Office programs. Trained in Final Cut Pro as well. He has experience with various cameras including Sony, JVC and Canon but currently operates a Sony HDV Z1E camera.

Geoff’s influences come from many different sources - from mainstream cinema (James Cameron, The Wachowski's, Tim Burton, Michael Bay) to various television shows (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica) and music videos through to video games and comics; all with a love of modern music running through everything.

His plans for the future involve furthering his Directing work and pushing his skills as an editor and cameraman. His goals for Silvertip Films is more - more music, more films, more promos, more documentaries, more photography - more everything!
