Frequently Asked Questions and Answers...

How does Silvertip films work?

Alongside the main directors at Silvertip Films, we use a core group of freelancers who comprise our regular crew. When you hire us, you don’t get any random person on the crew of your shoot - it will be made of our trusted, regular crew members who are full time professionals.

These crew members give Silvertip Films a wide range of skills, creativity and equipment knowledge which can be applied as and when a project calls for them. If a shoot needs e.g. five cameras, we have access to cameramen and the equipment to cover this.

What experience do the crew members of Silvertip films have?

Our regular crew has a wide range of experience - of which more information can be found in the ABOUT US page. Each member is a full time professional camera operator, director of photography, editor, director and so on and has many years of experience behind them.

They have worked on a number of our broadcast videos as well as our other projects which make up our portfolio. They have also worked on a variety of broadcast shoots and projects - commercials, television shows, corporate videos, live multi camera concert shoots - which they all continue to do and so they have plenty of experience and are all skilled in their individual and shared areas of expertise.

What broadcast do you have with your music videos?

We have a lot of broadcast exposure for our music videos when combined with a PR campaign to get the song heard and the video seen. Playlisting on channels such as Smash Hits!, B4U, Starz, AKA, Fizz, Bubble, MTV Base, NME and more is common place for our unsigned and indie act videos.

What about your live videos?

Our live concert videos are invaluable promotional materials for bands - whether used as full length songs or cut into a showreel – each band gains more bookings on the strength of the videos they have. For unsigned acts they are a great way to showcase your talent to booking agents who can’t make your shows and for covers and tribute bands they are a great way to show agents what your act is like and to see the entertainment you can provide to an audience.

What if we want something for a project that you don’t have as part of your crew and in-house equipment?

If a project requires something we don’t have as part of our regular crew or our in house kit, we can bring in other freelancers to work with us and/or hire in the equipment from reputable outside companies. These items may include things like steadicams, tracks, dollies and jibs, lighting, studio space etc. We will discuss with you the budget implications of achieving what you want and then, if you give us the go-ahead to achieve it, we will set about making it happen.

What do I do if I have a project I'd like made?

Please contact us on info@silvertipfilms.co.uk or call us on (01483) 407533 and talk to us about the project you want to get made – what type of video is it, what do you need it for, what are the content ideas for it etc as well as any other useful information we could use, as well as a budget allowance for the project.

We will get back to you with a quote for the project and options for various additional items to benefit the production, should budget allow it and we will also put in some of our ideas and ask any questions we may have for you on the project.

Upon approval of our quote for the cost of the project (pre-production, shoot and post-production and additional things like actors, studio hire etc), we will arrange a meeting to discuss the project in more detail - shoot dates, locations, crew and equipment requests (if anything specific is needed) etc.

What do we do if we are a band and would like our next gig filmed or a promo video made?

For live filming, we will get back to you to discuss the production and sort out the arrangements for it - venue location, shoot date, lighting requirements if needed, sound set up and so on and discuss it fully in detail before the gig takes place to make sure everything is set up to the satisfaction of both parties.

Please note we usually require a few weeks lead-in time before a shoot to allow us to crew up and arrange any necessary equipment hire. However we aim to be as responsive as possible and may be able to cover a gig at short notice.

Please look at the SERVICES section of the site for more information on our filming options and decide what you would like for your video – a performance only or a performance / narrative - and what your budget will cover.

Contact us on info@silvertipfilms.co.uk with some information on yourselves and your sound and your ideas and, if possible, send a demo CD, MP3 or a link to your music online.

Once a broad agreement exists, we will arrange a meeting to start pre-production to sort out script, locations, extras, shoot date(s), crew, extra equipment, post-production schedule and so on. Please note, as with a live gig, we require a few weeks lead-in time before a shoot to allow us to crew up, and arrange any extra equipment you may wish to have hired (lights, camera gear etc) in time for the shoot.
