Frequently Asked Questions and Answers...
How does Silvertip films work?
Silvertip Films is run by Geoff Cockwill and Chris Towndrow and regularly works with a core group of freelancers on its projects. The number of people involved gives us access to a wide range of skills and equipment which can be applied as and when a project calls for them. If a shoot needs e.g. five cameras, we have access to cameramen and the equipment to cover this.
What if we want something for a project that you don’t have as part of your crew and in-house equipment?
If a project requires something we don’t have as part of our in-house portfolio or via our network of freelancers, we can hire in other freelancers to work with us and/or hire in the equipment from reputable outside companies. These items may include things like steadicams for DV, tracks, dollies and jibs, lighting, studio space etc. We will discuss with you the budget implications of achieving what you want and then, if you give us the go-ahead to achieve it, we will set about making it happen.
What experience do the crew members of Silvertip films have?
The various members of Silvertip Films and their freelancers have a wide range of experiences, of which more information can be found in the ABOUT US page. Each member has studied in a media-related area whether it be film or design and each member has made their own films, worked together on numerous shoots and worked professionally on a variety of projects - adverts, corporates, low budget films, live shoots, graphic designs - which they all continue to do and so they have plenty of experience and are all skilled in their individual and shared areas of expertise.
What do I do if I have a project I'd like made?
Please contact us on info@silvertipfilms.co.uk and give us a description of your company and what you do, the project you want to get made and any other useful information we could use as well as a budget allowance for the project.
We will get back to you with details on how we would achieve the project and what we can offer you as well as ask any questions we may have for you on the project plus a quote on the cost of the project (pre-production, shoot and post-production). Upon approval of this, we will arrange a meeting to discuss the project in more detail - shoot dates, locations, crew and equipment requests (if anything specific is needed) etc.
What do we do if we are a band and would like our next gig filmed or a promo video made?
Please look at the LIVE or MUSIC VIDEO section of the site for more information on our filming options as well as clips of some of the shoots we have done. Decide what you would like and what you budget will cover. Contact us on info@silvertipfilms.co.uk with some information on yourselves and your sound and, if possible, send a demo CD or a link to your music online.
For live filming, we will get back to you to discuss the production and sort out the arrangements for it - venue location, shoot date, lighting requirements if needed, sound set up and so on and discuss it fully in detail before the gig takes place to make sure everything is set up to the satisfaction of both parties.
Please note we usually require a few weeks lead-in time before a shoot to allow us to crew up, sort any extra equipment you may wish to have hired (lights, camera gear etc) in time for the shoot. However we aim to be as responsive as possible and may be able to cover a gig at short notice.
If you want a promo video made for one of your songs, contact us on info@silvertipfilms.co.uk with information on your band, your sound, your budget and any ideas you may have for the video and pitch them to us! We will get back to you and request a copy of your demo CD or a link to online music of yours to help us understand your sound and visualize what you are wanting for a tracks video.
Once we have had some contact between us we will arrange a meeting to start pre-production to sort out script, locations, extras, shoot date(s), crew, extra equipment, post-production schedule and so on. Please note, as with a live gig, we require a few weeks lead-in time before a shoot to allow us to crew up, sort any extra equipment you may wish to have hired (lights, camera gear etc) in time for the shoot.
Why should we choose Silvertip?
Because we aren’t a faceless organisation whose goal is pleasing shareholders or fattening expense accounts! As individuals we enjoy the world of music and film and our passion for these mediums is reflected in the ideas and enthusiasm we bring to a project. We’ll connect with you about both your creative and business goals and always offer you alternatives. We’ll treat you individually, not just as another piece of business and we’ll work for a price that makes sense.
Our past customers have good things to say about us, and there must be a reason for that. We want to deliver a good product for you, because otherwise we’re just wasting your time, and a great video is just as pleasing for us as it is for our customers.
