Hijera

Hijera excel at fusing dance elements with guitars, grooves and pure sonic style to create a sound with a nod to the past and a foot in the future which is coulpled with sensational live shows...

The band members share a love for 90s Britpop, the Baggy scene, alternative indie, funk, acid house, drum n' bass, leftfield dance and psychedelia...to name just a few of their stylistic influences!

They wanted a video which would hark back to the style of early 90's videos for some of the bands they loved and also featured a performance element but one which had a bit of an experimental edge to it and so the idea was borne to showcase the band performing in unusual and rundown urban areas but with only the minimal instruments compared to what they usually have - hence a lone snare drum, an unplugged guitar and a random cowbell - and this live footage would be intercut with footage of the band in various locales in their hometown of Southampton plus feature specially shot 'stock footage' which reflected the lyrics of the song. Like their music, it creates an amalgamation of different visuals and actions to create a fun and lively music video for the band.

The 2005 release of their CD ‘The Seedy E.P.’ saw them do the rounds nationwide and obtain support slots with the likes of The Kooks, El Presidente and The Infadels and the continuation of their own club night ‘Grey Matter’ at the Joiners Arms in Southampton, plus hooking up with Platinum Sounds to get their track ‘Ten Thousand Eyes’ on two video games, Trackmania Sunrise and GP3 Motor Racing.

2006 was to be the band's biggest year yet and saw them releasing ‘Ten Thousand Eyes’ as a limited edition vinyl single through a subsidiary label (Worst Case Scenario Records) to One Records in February 2006 as well as being a digital download on various sites, they are also embarking on a nationwide tour and have more plans in the pipeline so keep your eyes on the band in 2008...
