Slashed Seat Affair
We filmed the debut music video for rising band Slashed Seat Affair in early September 2006...
Based around the theme of dislocation, the video utilises four-way split screen effects on Ellie's face to give a jumbled, incomplete image of her. We also used stuttering, freeze frame effects on parts of the song to break up the footage and make it disjointed and we featured shots of Ellie, standing still whilst the rest of the band performed behind her, to accentuate her dislocation and tie in with the song title.
Filmed in a warehouse dressed with chandeliers, in an outside yard in deepest, darkest Sussex, and twelve floors up on a roof in Notting Hill, London, the video features three distinct locations and three distinct looks. With the band dressed in a retro-inspired way, the video is a visual treat.
Using chandeliers to add warmth and a glow to the warehouse location, we took it from a stark and dark room to a vibrant and dynamic location. With careful timing we made use of the natural light on the London rooftop to feature the band performing from daytime to nighttime and capturing a London sunset in the process...
The "Dislocated" video was broadcast on CMTV (International) as well as in-stores across the UK.
