John Klass - "Jingkli Nona"
The video for "Jingkli Nona" was an international co-production between us, OceanFall and Singapore-based Klass International and Eurasian Association.
Featuring a narrative in which John's infectious energy infects all around him, the video was designed to have a Western style to it and be fast and exciting - like the song.
We shot on location in early 2008 on the Siloso Beach Resort and at the Santosa Hotel there. We used a track and dolly to add movement to the camera and depth to the shots and we also used it to allow John to get up close and personal with the camera during one of the performance sections!
We also used a 35mm adaptor to give the video a more filmic look as it allows for a greater depth of field and a richer look to shots when used with an HDV camera. The video was also graded to further enrichen the colours.
The video will be released in conjunction with the single release in late 2008, more news soon...

Being in the entertainment business for over 15 years, John Klass has garnered formidable success through his journey, he first gained public attention as lead singer with award winning band KICK! performing in front of capacity crowds of 30,000 to 50,000 people in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) & Malacca (Malaysia) respectively.
John's songs continue to hit the airplay charts with a string of No.1 songs across Singapore. From his original songs to classic updates such as Elvis's "Its Now Or Never" & the ABBA classic "Honey Honey", a duet with a popular television actress, Jamie Yeo, from Singapore.
Jingkli Nona is a cultural folk song that is popular among Singaporeans. The popularity of the song has seen all races singing to it at community events, schools, parties and campfires.
This popular folk song has been given a new treatment by incorporating a pop element and has also been complemented with mass dance steps that will appeal to both the young and old and all races - like the spirit of Macarena which was a folk song popularized by current music trends and easy dance steps!
