Grand Prix Legends Vidcast
Our weekly vidcast shoot for Leigh's Diecast Diary, now approaching the end of its second year of webcasting, has recently moved to version 2.0 and been reformatted to bring some more fun into the session itself and to involve the audience more.
"See the models really come to life."
Every day Leigh Hobden reports on the latest news in the Diecast world, posting on the diary section of the Diecast Legends website. It's a new concept for the parent company Grand Prix Legends which allows the readers of Leigh’s Diary to get a little bit more visual information on each new model.
The vidcast has evolved from its humble beginnings, with just Leigh presenting against a white backdrop, moving into a mini studio (affectionately known as “The Tank”) and shooting against a green screen before moving into its own set in the form of a living room complete with stunning LA view from the window! Leigh is now regularly joined by the vidcasts own cast of characters including his rival Charlie the amazingly knowledgeable Diecast Girl, Sean the faithful assistant, Alex the crazy F1 fan and Daryl the witty occasional commentator.
Recent events in the vidcasts have included the spoof Matrix short film and Austin Hobden International Man of Diecast, plus title sequences spoofing Friends, Miami Vice and The Apprentice (all mostly relevant to models released that week!) as well as one episode being shot in and around Leighs car, the smashing of models by the forklift, the F1 race league table (and the attempt to stitch up Charlie for constantly winning!) and many other fun elements which has boosted the vidcast from simply being about models to having its own life and sense of fun.
Grand Prix Legends opened its doors in 1994 and is now the World's leading vendor of Motorsport related merchandise with Diecast being one of its biggest areas.
They also sell an extensive range of Diecast Replicas, aircraft models, leisure wear, sunglasses, books, videos and DVDs. With over 250,000 customers on their database, they send out catalogues every two weeks.
They have a permanent trackside shop at Brands Hatch and they are also involved with the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed.
They are based in Peasmarsh, near Guildford, just 30 miles south west of London. It is here that they have some 35 staff and hold nearly £2 million worth of stock.
We film the vidcast every week and are continuing to contribute to the success and growing popularity of Leigh's Diary.
