Producer, Director Lunella Florence
Lunella Florence (Luna) is a Project Manager, Director and Creative Producer who brings warmth, humour and a sense of calm to her work. She cares deeply about storytelling and about helping people feel comfortable enough to share their stories in a way that feels natural, honest and true.
She has spent many years creating arts projects that make a positive difference in people’s lives, working with organisations including Chichester Festival Theatre, Chichester Cathedral and Surrey Arts. She is also Co-Director of Whistlestop Arts, where she creates arts and heritage projects that bring people closer to culture, place and one another.
Her love of directing began while studying at Dartington College of Arts, where she discovered just how much she loved bringing stories to life. She even played Prospero in The Tempest, although she’d be the first to say there’s absolutely no chance, she could remember the lines now! Over the years, her experience has taught her how to stay calm when the unexpected happens. During a community production of My Fair Lady, one cast member missed the dress rehearsal because it clashed with the weekly shop. Another time, a young performer arrived at rehearsal in floods of tears and unable to speak, only for Luna to discover the crisis was David Beckham cutting off his hair! She knows that patience, perspective and a decent cup of tea, always Earl Grey for her, can go a long way.
Luna’s favourite film is probably Amélie, for the quiet strength of its central character, beautifully played by Audrey Tautou, and for its rich colour, warmth and nostalgic charm. For all her love of film, she has never seen Star Wars and has no intention of doing so, space is simply not her thing!
